In leadership, and in life, few assets are more valuable than your inner circle.
I call mine my Golden Circle 💫. These are the friends who’ve stood beside me for over 30 years. Some I met at school, others through shared interests, university, work, or on the start line. They didn’t just appear overnight; they’ve walked the long road with me.
We’ve laughed until it hurt, cried through life’s hardest moments, travelled together, and supported each other through thick and thin 🌍💬.
What makes this Golden Circle so powerful isn’t just the shared history, it’s their grounding presence. They remind me who I am. They realign my moral compass when life tries to spin it off course 🧭. And they show up, not just in the good times, but especially when it matters most.
I’ve spoken before about losing my best friend, Phil Sherriff. In 2012, my Golden Circle came together in a way I’ll never forget. We all travelled to London to spend our final hours with Phil. In that grief, there was also unity. Strength. Brotherhood. A bond that transcends time.
But this circle isn’t just about personal resilience, it’s also integral to business and leadership. These are the people who challenge me, encourage me, back me, and refer me. They’re the ones who see me clearly and hold me accountable to my highest standards 🙌.
Your network doesn’t need to be vast, but it must be real. If you’re lucky enough to have a Golden Circle, treasure them. Thank them. And yes, lean on them.
They are not just your friends, they are your foundation. In life. In business. In leadership 💼❤️
