Is Manchester the friendliest city in the UK?
Hard to say. But on this particular day, it certainly felt like it.
I’d met a client for a walk. Not unusual for me; some of the best coaching conversations happen outside, where the air moves and the mind follows.
Everyone we passed said hello. A nod, a smile, a few comments about the weather (obviously). It was simple, human, and strangely energising. We were walking through Manchester, a city known for its culture, resilience, and now apparently… its friendliness.
What struck me most was how this lightness of interaction opened everything else up. My client, a senior leader, began to reflect more deeply. With fewer walls. More flow. More connection.
💬 Coaching doesn’t have to be across a desk.
Sometimes it’s a walk. A coffee. A question in motion.
